What: HB 1971 increases the punishments for wildlife poaching in Missouri.
Date: Tuesday, February 16, 2016
Time: 12:30 p.m.
Location: House Hearing Room 6

House Bill 1971, which significantly increases fines for poaching, has a hearing Tuesday, February 16 at 12:30 p.m. in House Hearing Room 6. The bill calls for a $750 fine for poaching a wild turkey, a $1,500 fine for poaching a white-tailed deer and a $3,500 fine for poaching an elk or black bear.

The Conservation Federation of Missouri strongly supports HB 1971. Poaching is a problem in Missouri. Increasing the fines for poaching should discourage poachers. Read about the poaching of a bull elk in southern Missouri.

We need strong citizen support to move this bill through the General Assembly. Please consider attending the hearing to testify. In addition, please login to the Legislative Action Center to cast your vote for this bill and comment.
